The U9 team will play in the first of these tournaments.
Selection of Team:
All players who apply will be considered for summer select teams. However, roster space on these teams is limited and not all who apply will be selected. Coaches will evaluate all who apply, but those who registered and played for Blue Ridge Lacrosse Club teams in Fall 2012 or Spring 2013 at U9, U11 or U13 levels will be given selection priority. In order to participate on these teams, U11 and U13 players must commit to a
minimum of two of the three above tournaments. U9 players must commit to play in the Martinsville tournament. Players must identify the tournament(s) for which they are committing and any they may be unable to attend. The player’s U.S. Lacrosse membership must be valid during the application process and at the time of each tournament in which they plan to participate.
Selection process:
Players who want to be considered for summer select travel teams
must submit their commitment form, a copy of which is attached at the end of this guide,
no later than Friday, April 26, 2013. Coaches will evaluate players who submit commitment forms in order to assess each player’s level of experience. Each team’s roster will consist of no more than 17 players, although the number of players on each team’s roster is subject to change based on team needs at the sole discretion of team coaches. All applicants will be notified if they have been selected to participate on summer select teams.
Practice schedule:
Practices for summer select tournament teams will be held 2-3 times per week on dates and times and at locations to be announced.
Cost of Participation:
The fees for participation for U9 players ($75) and U11 and U13 players ($250) are one-time fees which cover tournament entry fees for all tournaments, as well as weekly practices and coaching. Players will be responsible for the cost of transportation to/from tournaments, lodging, and meals for tournaments. Limited financial assistance may be available to those who demonstrate significant financial need.
