Cost and Equipment
Lacrosse is a fun, safe sport for all ages. However, as in any team sport, injuries can happen. Having the correct equipment and protective gear and wearing it properly can minimize the risk of injury. Blue Ridge Lacrosse club members are required to wear protective gear for all practices and games unless otherwise indicated.
This is a list of required and recommended equipment. Blue Ridge Lacrosse supplies players with reversible practice jerseys, t-shirts and game shorts. All other equipment must be supplied by the player.

Equipment doesn't need to be the most expensive on the market. Helmets normally range from $100 up (less on sale), but be sure to get one that fits properly. Shoulder pads start as low as $25.00, gloves as low as $25.00 and arm pads as low as $20.00. Sticks can range from $29.00 for a complete starter stick to over $275.00 for the handle alone! Most starting players will do well with inexpensive sticks and can move up as their abilities improve.
Mouth guards are an important piece of protective gear and must be worn for practice as well as games. They are readily available in the sports departments of Wal-Mart, Target, Dicks Sporting Goods and Play It Again Sports. Please take the time to make sure the mouth guard fits properly and to replace it frequently (they out grow them quickly!).
Purchasing lacrosse equipment in the Lynchburg area can be challenging, so we are providing a list of available sources. Blue Ridge Lacrosse is providing this list as a convenience to our members, but is not recommending or guarantying any store, website, or brand.
Play It Again Sports located on 221 in Forest carries some lacrosse equipment - sticks, balls and a limited amount of protective gear. The local Dick's Sporting Goods carries some lacrosse equipment at various times during the year, but you can always get equipment at their website, www.dickssportinggoods.com.
