Welcome to Lynchburg Girls Summer Travel Lacrosse.
Our Summer travel program will be housed under BRLC. In order to ensure ample field space for practices, non-profit status for potential donors, coaching, registration and administration this is our best partner for this new team. The girls will wear unique pinnies that say “Lynchburg Lacrosse" which will distinguish them from BRLC and Forest Rec Programs.
This team is made up of 2025-2027 players (rising 9th through rising 7th graders). Girls are coming in from all over the region. This team will be coached by Kim Gardner, BRLC coach and former UNC athlete and Masyn Whitten (University of Lynchburg midfielder). They will be assisted by VES player and BRLC alum Holly Koudelka and Coach Tim Lecolst.
Practices will be at Peaks View Park fields 8 & 9. (These are the fields we normally play on for BRLC.) We will practice Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 PM.
First practice will be Tuesday night, May 18th at 6 pm. PLEASE BRING A REVERSIBLE PINNIE with you.
BRLC/Lynchburg Lacrosse will go to 2 tournaments in this inaugural summer.
A room block for hotels at each location will be out asap!
There are 3 levels of participation:
- Practices only. (12+ practices) $100 (+$25 pinnie)
- One Tournament. $200 (+$25 pinnie)
- Both Tournaments. $300 (+$25 pinnie)
All players will need to purchase Lynchburg Lacrosse Reversible Pinnie at the cost of $25. This is included in your registration. Black skorts or shorts of your choice will complete the uniform.
You must have a current US LACROSSE membership to play.
We encourage, if at all possible, girls to do both tournaments. We’ll have all June to build a team and the hope is to see great improvement from the first weekend to the last. Travel fees help to offset coach stipends and accommodations/travel, pinnies, field usage and lining.
We are offering a practice only option. We hope to continue with a couple tournaments this Fall and practices will provide a great option for athletes that want to be part of the team but are unable to make the June tournaments.
Registration will be online only.
Travel Lacrosse Format
For those who have not played travel lacrosse, this is a different format than recreational lacrosse. Playing time is earned though hard work, stick work, and being in good field shape for summer. Unlike rec lacrosse, equal playing time for all players is not guaranteed. The hope is that our players, regardless of skill level, will improve over the summer through on and off field practice time. If a player is concerned about playing time, she will need to have that conversation (absolutely not during a tournament or game) with her coach. This is a conversation reserved for coaches and players, not for parents. Our hope with this very first season is to empower our amazing girls to advocate for themselves at appropriate times, to work hard off the field, to have a positive attitude, to trust their teammates, to play positions that they normally may not play, and to be ready to contribute as team players—however that may look. All of these are critical factors in making this experience a good one for everyone.
