FALL 2020 - 8U Girls Lacrosse

2020 FALL GIRLS 8U 
 

While Girls 8U is still designed to introduce young players to women's lacrosse and to teach them the fundamental skills and rules of the game, Spring 2020 will once again offer more practices and a series of short-field, high-touch games, 4-on-4 games. Travel further than Forest will not be required.  

Cost of the season is $0 - literally free and includes free equipment rental for first-time players. 8U girls will need a stick, goggles, and a mouthguard. 

Practices will be Tuesday evenings from 6-7pm PM at Peaks View Park Fields 8/9 running Sept 14 - October 24.

GIRLS 8U is offered to girls born between 9/1/2011 - 08/31/2013.

8U lacrosse is designed to introduce young players to men's lacrosse and to teach them the fundamental skills and rules of the game.  

Players and parents can expect several Saturday friendlies with FYAA lacrosse.

Cost of the season is $0 (literally $0) and includes free equipment rental for first-time players, if needed. For Fall 2020, 8U boys will need full equipment: helmet, gloves, stick, shoulder and elbow pads, and a mouthguard.  Cleats are recommended. 

Clinics for 8U will be held Wednesday evenings s from 6-7pm at Peaks View Park, fields 8/9 from Sept 16 - October 24.
 

8U lacrosse is where young athletes begin developing fundamental technical skills in lacrosse. The boys entering the sport at this point have a vast difference in their physical and cognitive development and the game they play should be designed to develop a combination of athletic movement skills, and fundamental technical skills for playing lacrosse. The emphasis at this age group is on instilling a love and excitement of playing, while developing the fundamental athletic skills that will be valuable in any future athletic endeavors.

Players must have a U.S. Lacrosse Membership prior to registration.

2020 GIRLS 10U Fall Clinics

10U Girls Lacrosse is designed to introduce young players to women's lacrosse and to teach them the fundamental skills and rules of the game.  At 10U, games will be played 8 vs 8 and will generally be on short-sided fields. This allows for more touches, quicker play, and simply MORE FUN!

We hope to have Saturday friendlies scheduled with our lacrosse friends in Forest.

Cost of the season is $0. Like ZERO Dollars. We have a limited amount of free equipment rental for first-time players. 10U girls will need a stick, goggles, and a mouthguard. Players should bring their lacrosse equipment to each practice; including lacrosse stick, eye protection and mouthpiece. Cleats are recommended. 

10U lacrosse is where young athletes begin developing fundamental technical skills in lacrosse. The game they play should be designed to develop a combination of athletic movements, skills, and fundamental technical skills for playing lacrosse. The emphasis at this age level is still on instilling a love and excitement of playing. The competition playing rules for 10U encourage multiple opportunities for each athlete to “touch” the ball, work with teammates, develop general physical literacy and a progressive development of existing technical skills. 

Girls 10U will Practice on Tuesday evenings from 6-7:15 pm at Peaks View Park Fields 8/9  beginning Sept 14 - October 24

Players must have a U.S. Lacrosse Membership prior to registration.

2020 FALL 12U GIRLS

12U lacrosse is where our young athletes begin to hone their technical skills and continue building the fundamental skills needed in lacrosse. This is a great age group to begin playing lacrosse for the first time or to continue to develop and sharpen lacrosse fundamentals.

 At 12U, play will either be 8 vs 8 short-sided high-touch games OR 12 v 12 full-field games, depending on which clubs Blue Ridge plays. Either way, we look to see more touches, quicker play, and simply MORE FUN on the field!

Players and parents can expect several Saturday friendlies with our Forest lacrosse friends.

The game they play should be reinforcing fundamental technical skills and practical tactical applications for playing lacrosse. Essentially, young women at 14U are preparing to be competitors. First-time players at the 14U level are welcomed and encouraged, as and fundamental skill-building is central to BRLC’s 14U rec team.

Players and parents can expect several friendlies with FYAA Girls Lacrosse

Cost of the season is $0. Like really,  ZERO dollars. For Spring 2020, Players should bring their lacrosse equipment to each practice; including lacrosse stick, eye protection and mouthpiece.
