General Spring Season Information
Welcome to Blue Ridge Lacrosse Program. We look forward to offering a great lacrosse experience to boys and girls in the Lynchburg area. This spring, we anticipate offering opportunities for boys in U7 (clinic style, no games,) U9, U11, U13 and U15 age groups. For the girls, we anticipate offering a U7, clinic style program, and for the first time we are offering a U9 team. We will also offer U11 and U13/U15 teams for the girls division.
Registration for Spring 2015 is currently open and will close on February 10th. Players will register based on their age as of August 31, 2014. Please refer to the "What team is my child on?" chart on our homepage for specific birthdate information.
Season Dates - General spring season runs from March 1 through mid-May.
Season Opener - Season Kickoff Day and Parent Meeting will be held March 1, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Lynchburg College following the Lynchburg College men's lacrosse game. Players will report to Shellenberger Field to meet their coaches from 3:00-4:00 pm. Parents will gather in Hopwood Hall for an informational meeting.
Practices and Games - Practices for U7 boys will be once a week, clinic style. Practices for boys U9, U11, U13 teams will generally be twice a week. We hope to offer practices for U15 boys more than twice a week. Girls U11 and U13/U15 can expect to practice twice a week. Girls U7 will practice once a week, clinic style program. The number of games for each team will vary based on the number of participants and opponents at that age group. Away games will require some travel, generally to the following areas: Forest, Roanoke, Salem, Franklin County, Lexington, and Charlottesville areas.
Fields - U7 and U9 girls and boys will use Spottswood Field for clinics and practices. All other age groups will practice and play games on fields provided by the City of Lynchburg Parks and Recreation Department. Locations TBD.
Equipment - Boys at all age levels are required to have stick, NOCSAE certified helmet, gloves, chest and arm pads, mouthguard and protective cup. Girls at all age groups are required to have stick, protective eyewear and mouthguard. Cleats are recommended, but not required. (Any style cleat is acceptable.) Blue Ridge Lacrosse Club offers limited loaner equipment for the season for first time players. See the Equipment tab on the left of the homepage for specific information. Both Play it Again Sports and Dick's Sporting Goods are local options to purchase lacrosse equipment.
Costs - Fees range from $80-$165, depending upon the age group. T-shirt and reversible pinnie are included in Blue Ridge registration fee for most age groups. Any games or tournaments outside the regular schedule may incur additional fees. You will be asked to purchase game shorts for boys (U9, U11, U13 and U15) and game skirt for girls (U9, U11, U13/U15.) All players are required to have a U.S. Lacrosse membership current through May 2015. The Blue Ridge Lacrosse Club registration process will direct you to the U.S. Lacrosse website or you can join or renew on your own at any time at www.uslacrosse.org.
Volunteeers/Team Parents - Blue Ridge Lacrosse Club has many opportunities for involvement. Each team will be asked to have a team parent(s) to assist with clothing orders and equipment distributions, score keeping for home games, and assist coaches with team communications. All coaches are required to have U.S. Lacrosse coach membership and complete a background screening.
